Our Ingredients
Aloe Vera & Hibiscus
Aloe vera and Hibiscus are the two staple ingredients you’ll find in most of our products. I firmly believe in their amazing skincare effects, which I’ve witnessed firsthand for decades.
Aloe Vera
I can’t speak enough about my love for this plant. It was a staple in mine and my sisters’ hair and skin care growing up. We were fortunate to simply step outside, cut off a leaf, and enjoy the incredible benefits this plant had to offer. Its natural healing and nourishing properties were always within reach, and it became an essential part of our everyday life. Aloe vera is renowned for its soothing, hydrating, and healing properties, making it an essential ingredient in skincare. It is rich in antioxidants, vitamins (A, C, E), and enzymes. It helps reduce inflammation (redness, swelling, heat), promote wound healing, and improve skin elasticity. Its mucopolysaccharides repairs the skin barrier, creates a protective barrier that locks in moisture, making it ideal for sensitive or irritated skin, including the delicate, sensitive mucosa of the external genitalia. Its natural antimicrobial and antifungal properties help maintain a balanced skin microbiome, preventing irritation, infections, while its cooling effect provides relief from discomfort. Aloe does naturally contain latex in the yellow-brown liquid under the skin of the aloe. This is especially to note in those with latex allergies and should avoid products containing aloe, and follow medical advice from a healthcare practitioner. To this current date, the aloe extract which is used in our products are made from the inner gel, which is not known to contain latex. I will update this information if this changes. But as always, consult with your healthcare provider before using products that contain natural ingredients.
Hibiscus
This plant is the other foundational botanical ingredient that was always readily available for my family and I to access. I didn’t know then, but over the last 2.5 years of my research on all the ingredients, I’d classify hibiscus as a natural multitasker, packed with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), antioxidants, and vitamins, promoting cell turnover and elasticity. It is known in the Caribbean as "natures botox". Its mild exfoliating properties help remove dead skin cells, revealing a more even skin complexion. Hibiscus is also rich in mucilage, which soothes and hydrates the skin, making it beneficial for delicate areas like the external genitalia. Its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties help reduce irritation and infections. Additionally, hibiscus contains anthocyanins and antioxidants that help combat oxidative stress and inflammation. As a staple ingredient, hibiscus aligns with my commitment to creating products that nurture and rejuvenate, offering a luxurious yet gentle solution for feminine and overall skin care.
Alongside these, I’ve also incorporated other natural ingredients I’ve grown to love, each chosen for their unique ability to nurture and enhance our skin and yours. Unfortunately, many of these products contain nut oils and should be avoided in those with nut allergies.
