Essential Oils
While we love fragrant products and many companies use added synthetic scents, we leave the scenting using synthetic fragrance oils to those who want to use fragrance in their products. We, however, will not add synthetic fragrance oils to enhance the smell of the products, and while we do factor in the importance of it, we do things to avoid ‘funky’ smelling ingredients, like strong smelling oils etc. Instead, the scent in our products comes from essential oils or the plant oils themselves which are naturally derived. Our focus is predominantly on efficacy and safety when it comes to the choice of ingredients. If I am able to find natural fragrance oils from essential oils, I believe that these exist, and if you all would like natural fragrances, it will be considered. We will maintain our natural focus first and always with safety being central to our decisions surrounding ingredients.
The essential oils we use are used at a very low percentage (1% or less) to decrease the likelihood of irritation. While irritation can still occur even at a low percentage in some individuals, as we are all uniquely and wonderfully made; irritation can still occur, which is why you MUST perform a patch test prior to using the product.
Quick Story: During testing, I used a product that contained a popular essential oil that was diluted in 3 other plant oils, I had no reaction, however my close friend performed a patch test, and they developed a mild rash when they applied the product after the second use. This essential was used at a very small percentage (0.15% out of 100%) and diluted in the appropriate amount of oil (87.50% out of 100%), but my friend still experienced a reaction, and I did not. Performing a patch test is essential for your own well-being.
I am working on providing smaller sizes so that you can test how the products react with your skin, before you commit to a larger size and spend your or your husbands/partners, hard earned money on a product you can’t use.
Additionally, some essential oils have the potential to cause adverse reactions, especially in people with a previous history of certain medical conditions seizures, high blood pressure etc.; additionally, if you are pregnant/suspected pregnant or nursing it is essential you consult your primary care provider prior to use or continued use. This is universal for a multitude of naturally derived ingredients, including those sold in larger companies which are usually mentioned on their label or website. Please see each package labels’ warning section to see if any of these are a concern for you.
It is of UTMOST IMPORTANCE to speak with your Primary Care Provider prior to the use of ANY naturally derived product.
Details about each ingredient in a product will be on that products page.
